Additional Information:
This young skipper is one of the new breed of Danish match racing
sailors, who have taken the world scene by storm in the past two years.
He moved into the top 20 on the world-ranking ladder last year, and
has found that it is not so easy to continue the climb up the "pecking
order" when you are amongst this class of sailors.
Like so many Scandinavians, he started sailing with his family and
says he spent his first birthday on his parents' boat. Jesper started
his competitive sailing career in the tiny Optimist dinghy. It was
in 1996 that he started match racing, finishing fourth at the national
championship.
He recently entertained thoughts of starting a soling campaign for the 2004 Athens Olympics, but has instead chosen to focus on the Swedish Match Grand Prix Sailing Tour and advancing his position in the world match racing rankings.
He is also a graduate of the University of Copenhagen with a degree
in sport and social science. |
